Auto enthusiasts love the summer not just for the nice weather, but for the many Ontario car shows that occur every weekend.

The past couple of summers hasn’t provided many opportunities for car lovers to indulge in their passion, unfortunately. As the pandemic recedes, a gradual transition back to normalcy includes the return of a full slate of Ontario car shows taking place all summer long.

We may be well into the summer, but there are still lots of car shows worth attending that will appeal to anyone who knows that “motorhead” isn’t just the name of a metal band.

Many Ontario summer car shows help raise funds for charities and local communities. Attending a show gives you the opportunity to support some great causes while you’re taking in the sights and sounds of some beautiful automobiles.

7 Ontario car shows worth the drive this summer

If you’re looking to spend some family time on a weekend checking out the finest machines on four wheels, here are seven Ontario car shows that we think are worth traveling to.

1. Burlington Car Show (Burlington, July 9th): One of the most popular local summer car shows returns with more than 200 vehicles, including classics, muscle cars, and exotic sports cars. Admission is free and there will be live music and vendors for the whole family to enjoy. The event will raise funds for the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation.

2. ImportFest (Toronto, July 23rd): ImportFest isn’t just one of the biggest Ontario car shows of the summer, it’s one of the biggest car shows in Canada. The event, which celebrates its 20th anniversary at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, will feature:

  • hundreds of unique and modified vehicles on display
  • the biggest selection of car aftermarket parts and vendors in the country
  • anything and everything to do with the automotive lifestyle

3. Vintage Wheels & Wings (Mount Hope, July 23rd): If ImportFest’s focus on modern cars isn’t your thing and you’re more of a classic car buff, check out the annual Vintage Wheels & Wings show. The event takes place at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in the Hamilton neighbourhood of Mount Hope. Hundreds of vintage cars and aircrafts will be on display.

4. Steering for Steer Friends Car Show (Markham, August 13th): Garage Living is proud to be one of the sponsors of this car and motorcycle show featuring an appearance and photo opportunities with Dave Kindig, the renowned car designer and TV personality. The show, which is being held at the Markham Fairgrounds, is in support of the Steer Friends Day program. Steer Friends provides day program support to individuals with disabilities and complex care needs across York Region and the GTA.

5. Wheels on the Danforth (Toronto, August 13th): This annual car-focused street festival returns after a two-year absence. Hundreds of classics, hot rods, muscle cars, tuners, race cars, and exotic vehicles will pack the streets in Toronto’s Greektown area. This family-friendly event includes food, vendors, and live music.

6. Autofest Oshawa (Oshawa, August 27th and 28th):  This annual event has been around since 1994 and gives auto buffs the chance to view modern and vintage muscle cars and a wide array of classic cars. Over 1,500 vehicles are promised for this year’s two-day event at Oshawa’s Lakeview Park.

7. Drive Festival (Bowmanville, September 9th-11th): One of the newer Ontario car shows is Drive Festival, an end-of-summer three-day festival taking place at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (formerly Mosport Park).
