The McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg, Ontario has a special directive to only collect art made by Canadians. It’s the only collection of its kind.
That kind of mission needs proper funding and attention. This year, the collection will hold its third annual Moonlight Gala fundraiser. Garage Living has announced that it’s a proud sponsor for the event.

This year’s Moonlight Gala will take place on June 14th outside of the McMichael Gallery. The event will raise money to fund existing building and exhibits as well as adding more work to the collection. As the collection grows, it creates a more detailed picture of Canada’s artists, including some of the nation’s most popular such as:
- Tom Thomson
- Dulce Foo Fat
- Franklin Carmichael
- Frank Johnston
- A.J. Casson
The collection also includes works from Inuit and First Nations artists. The collection, therefore, provides a look at the diverse cultures and talents within Canada’s borders.
The gallery sits on 100 acres of conservation land. It’s the perfect place for a fundraiser under the stars on a summer night.
The McMichael Canadian Art Collection
The McMichael Canadian Art Collection receives about 100,000 visitors annually. About 30,000 of the visitors are students and educators. The rest are families, adults, and groups that want to learn more about Canada’s place in the art world.
Since the collection includes artwork from a broad range of periods and media, it offers something that everyone will enjoy.
The gallery has worked hard to keep admission prices affordable. This wouldn’t be possible without exceptional fundraising efforts from companies like Garage Living. Support from Garage Living and others makes it possible to keep the gallery open for all to enjoy. It also provides money for youth programs, summer art camps, art classes, and a lecture and film series.

Moonlight Gala 2014 will offer a list of exceptional Canadian wines and gourmet foods. The menu has been created to serve no more than 500 guests. This makes the fundraiser a somewhat exclusive event. Tickets cost between $300 and $350. Those who cannot attend the event can make donations directly to the gallery.
The event also has an auction to raise additional funds.
The 2014 Moonlight Gala will feature music from Sophie Milman, a jazz singer who has won a Juno Award and received international attention for her original work and renditions of jazz standards.
