About Us

Nicholas Richmond

Energetic, motivated, passionate. These are the three words that Nick Richmond says best describe him. And, anyone who knows him would agree! In less than 11 years, Nick has turned his passion for the remodeling industry into a multi-million dollar business with sales expected to soar over $40 million in 2020. With a start-up investment of $3,500, coupled with Nick’s determination and entrepreneurial spirit, Matrix Home Solutions has quickly become one of the nation’s largest home remodeling companies.

Like other successful entrepreneurs, Nick is highly motivated. His start in the industry began with window sales. Within a very short time, he was promoted to sales management and worked for several large home improvement companies before venturing out on his own. He admits that he made mistakes along the way, but was determined to learn from them…and he did.

In an effort to help others in this industry avoid some of he hard, and expensive, lessons he learned, Nick took the reigns of Grosso University in 2019 after his professional mentor, Rick Grosso, asked him to carry on the philosophy of the Grosso name. In his role as Chief Imagination Officer, Nick propelled a small organization that had become stagnant into the country’s largest and most sought after training and consulting group.

During his 30 minutes of free time every week, Nick enjoys basketball, traveling, family time, Rolex watches, and exotic cars.

Nick is a proud supporter of the Arlington Heights Police Department, Habitat for Humanity, his family church, and his children’s school. He attended Western Michigan University.

Nick received the 2013 Fred Case Entrepreneur of the Year Award in honor of achievements within the remodeling industry. He was selected by a panel of judges that evaluated the nominees on business acumen, company financial strength, community and industry involvement, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Christopher Hove

Since he could walk, Chris has been involved in home remodeling. As the third generation of his family to own successful remodeling companies, Chris' passion, knowledge and love of this industry are easy to see. In addition to his partnership in Garage Living, Chris serves as the Chief Marketing Officer of Matrix Home Solutions, the nation's 47th largest home improvement contractor. As Chris truly loves this industry, he can often be found consulting for other home improvement contractors across the US on the subjects of marketing, technology, call center management and inside sales training through Grosso University.

Chris honed his call center, leadership and training skills during his 12 years with Tucson Fire Department where he trained, mentored and managed a large team within a high-stress environment that had no margins for error. Chris was selected to serve in several statewide leadership roles including 2nd Vice President of the AZ APCO/NENA and the Statewide Coordinator for AZ TERT. For his role in implementing new lifesaving pre-hospital interventions for cardiac arrest, Chris received the 2016 Award of Service from Tucson Fire.

When Chris is not working, he enjoys family time, outdoor activities like fishing, kayaking, skiing and riding motorcycles.

Chris supports his local community through local food banks, political activism and volunteering.

Brian Barrick

Brian was the initial investor and Co-Founder of Matrix Home Solutions in 2009 and has been the VP of Production as the organization matured into the 47th largest remodeling contractor in the nation. Brian's integrity, exceptionally high standards and tireless work ethic have allowed him to guide Matrix from humble beginnings in his partners garage in 2009 to a multi-state organization with over 10,000 satisfied customers and projected sales of over $40,000,000 in 2020. Although Brian has moved his focus almost entirely to guiding the production portion of the business, he can still often be found in customer's houses helping them design their dream basements or training and mentoring new designers.

Prior to co-founding Matrix, Brian was an extremely successful sales, business development and account manager for some of the nation's largest supply chain companies. During his time in supply chain and logistics, he perfected the skills that have allowed Matrix to attain tremendous efficiency that is passed on to Matrix customers.

Although Brian is a natural in the demanding role of VP of Production, his degree in Supply Chain Management gives him an edge over typical contractors who view their supply chain as a pickup truck and the local Home Depot.

Brian enjoys time with his wife and 3 daughters, motorcycles, boating and anything else involving Lake Michigan. He went to school at Michigan State University.

Brian is a proud supporter of Habitat for Humanity, local law enforcement, his church and he continually mentors entry-level employees who often climb to key roles within Matrix Home Solutions.
